Adobe to move into hardware

Adobe has announced that it is moving into hardware with the launch of a cloud pen and digital ruler.
Both projects have been in development for some time. They were codenamed Project Mighty and Project Napoleon.
Adobe has said that the two projects have graduated from “technology exploration” to “planned project”.
Both devices are expected to be available at some point during the first half of 2014.
The pen was first demonstrated at Adobe’s MAX conference earlier this year. It and the digital ruler are being built by Adonit.
Adobe built its name as a the de facto standard for visual content creation. Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Fireworks and InDesign are industry standards in advertising and the media.
The company also released details about its online Creative Cloud service. Subscriptions to the service reached over one million during the third quarter of 2013.
That is an increase of over 331,000 subscriptions in three months. The boost is a result of the company nearing the withdrawl its introductory upgrade pricing for Adobe customers upgrading from Creative Suite.
